British Board Film Of Classification

The BBFC is the UK’s regulator of film and video. The films and videos are regulated by having age ratings, such as U, 12A, 18R etc. The BBFC have legal powers to rate, and sometimes cut or even reject works. The BBFC is a independent body which means the government are not attached to the ratings of films. They have been an organisation since 1912.

Discrimination
Drugs
Horror
Imitable behavior
Language
Nudity 
Sex
Theme 
Violence

Image result for pg filmA U film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and above. U films should be set within a positive framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.






PG-Movies:

Image result for pg film definitionPG Parental Guidance. General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.

The 12A rating is only used for films shown in cinemas. Films rated 12A are suitable for children aged 12 and over. However, people younger than 12 may see a 12A so long as they are accompanied by an adult. In such circumstances, responsibility for allowing a child under 12 to view lies with the accompanying adult.

15-Movies:

Image result for 18 rated films15 – Suitable only for 15 years and over. No one younger than 15 may see a 15 film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video work. These movies depending on the genre start becoming more violent, sexual or having adult references

Films rated 18 are for adults. No one under 18 is allowed to view or buy an 18 rated film. No constraints are held in these movies. So themes such as having strong language, sex scenes, drugs, blood and gore can be implemented within the film.

Flight Plan At the beginning we see something light rush past a background of black. Titles then appear  over the black background. This creates an enigma as the majority of the audience are bewildered at what happened. The next shot is an over shoulder shot of a woman at on the train platform looking at the train. The woman’s emotions are shown through a close up and looks worried. Her eyes seem to be welling with tears. You then find the woman is alone at the train station, this could have a deeper meaning. As that loneliness might be a major theme throughout the movie. This is a way for the audience to feel connected to the character by sympathizing. Target Audience Age group 16+ Young adults Students Change-sympathizers Our preferred audience would be a young adult audience. So this ranges from 17-40, as we believe this age group would be most suited and interested in attending our type of film. Our genre is a psychological thriller and the style we will use a modern 21st century setting. This will involve a bustling city life or a ordinary city type school. This will also relate to the regional identities of the inner city young adults who can relate to the surroundings, thus building a connection between the characters situation. The narrative will be a first person account, which means the audience are taken through the story as the character is experiencing it. This means the audience are immersed within the story which again can build up a connection between the audience and characters.
