Target audience description

Target Audience

  • Age group 16+
  • Young adults
  • Students
  • Change-sympathizers

Our preferred audience would be a young adult audience. So this ranges from 17-40, as we believe this age group would be most suited and interested in attending our type of film. Our genre is a psychological thriller and the style we will use a modern 21st century setting. This will involve a bustling city life or a ordinary city type school. This will also relate to the regional identities of the inner city young adults who can relate to the surroundings, thus building a connection between the characters situation.
The narrative will be a first person account, which means the audience are taken through the story as the character is experiencing it. This means the audience are immersed within the story which again can build up a connection between the audience and characters. I chose the young adults as they would relate to the story line the most. For example, it is set in a school which already relates to most of our target audience, as they are predominately in school.

Using Vladimir Propps theory, we made our main character a false hero. This was to add a bit of suspense and difference so that the audience will guess the story lines main plot. This would mean that he would play (to everyone idealistic view) a good character. However, when adding a plot twist will allow us to please a wide variety of the young adults.
The message we are sending is to show fear of change and modernization, meaning progressiveness is needed. This would ideally be a good message for the youth as they are the future of society, which would mean they want to progress and change.
